Well, it is very nearly time to be thinking about coming back to school! I hope everyone has had a lovely summer. I certainly have, it has been very restful and relaxing and I have loved being at home with my family. However I am also really looking forward to starting my new learning adventure with the new Great Bear Class.
School returns on Monday 5th September and I shall be there to meet you all in the playground from 8.40am.
If you are an old Great Bear who is moving on to Capella, I hope you had an amazing summer and I am looking forward to seeing all the fantastic learning you will be doing as Year Twos. xx

A few bits for the end of term
Our final week together as Great Bear 2015-2016 is here! I can't quite believe how fast this year has gone, here are a few little reminders for our last week of the year.
Move up Monday is this Monday when Great Bear Class will move to Y2 and meet Mrs Russam/Mrs Fox.
Open Evening is on Monday 3.30pm-4.30pm, please do pop in to Great Bear and or Capella Class.
Swimming will continue as normal but there will be no swimming club on Friday.
There is no more home learning and I will return the books with the children during the week.
Reading books will be collected on Wednesday, please do keep reading though!
I will start sending things home over the course of the week to avoid massive bundles of stuff on Friday.
The End of Term service will be on Friday at St. Matthew's Church, Rowde. The service starts at 1.30pm.

What a picture!
We haven't had a class photo for a while and we wanted to send Grace and Harry away to their new school with a picture of us. So we got together and took one, well many because as you can see it took a few to get it right! Though they have made us smile looking at them.
Reading in the Pants Factory
One day this week whilst we were tiding up before Lunch I spotted some feet sticking out from underneath the Pants Factory. On investigation I found two people very absorbed in reading and I couldn't help taking a picture!
Sports Day (The Run Through!)
Sports Day is a very busy time and whilst I sadly have no photos of the actual day its self, I do have lots from a run through. The photos have been taken by Sophie as she has been an observer. They are delightful and capture a different side to the amazing Great Bear Class.
Spiritual Garden Pebbles
During Art Day every child and some adults painted a pebble, we then wrote on it an inspiring word and signed our names on the back. KS1 took some of the pebbles to the Spiritual Garden and placed them around the tree. We took time to reflect on our word choices and what the Spiritual Garden is for.

Pants Factory!
We have been reading and writing about Aliens Love Underpants this week. We have designed and described aliens, written instructions on how to steal underpants and written job adverts for vacancies at our pant factory!
Sadly, I have not been as prolific as I normally am at taking photos of the children! But here are some photos of our pant factory, complete with freshly made pants!

A Huge Thank You!
Rio Week couldn't have happened without the help and support from the whole of the Rowde Academy team, Mrs Fox, teachers, TAs, school staff, children and parents.
So thank you for organising PE kits, packed lunches and whatever else your child or children needed it really helped.
A HUGE thank you goes to the parents who drove children to events or supported children at events, either by watching or supervising.
But I need to give the final word to the parents that supported me hugely in putting all the Olympic themed carnival costumes together for procession, it was a project that never could have happened without you. So thank you!

Our final Rio Day
On Friday all of the Devizes Primary schools met together at Southbroom St. James for the Athletics and Closing Ceremony and whilst the weather wasn't brilliant it was another memory filled day. Made even better by Great Bear's continual and consistent excellent behaviour, attitude and participation.
Here are lots of photos of the day.
We all played together after lunch big and little!
Getting ready for racing!
Rowde's Girl Sportsperson Award!
Great Bear trying to pulling tired faces after a long but brilliant day!
