This is a late post, as it happened over a week ago, sorry! Whilst playing outside the children were exploring and moving logs and other exciting natural resources when a visitor was discovered. At first the children thought it was a toy and the toad was picked up. Now it is in the Cygnus wild area next to some water.

Sport Relief
We all had a super time Morris Dancing for Sport Relief, well I certainly did! It was great fun and I laughed the whole way through, though this could be due to my lack of dancing skills and trying to keep up with the skips and flicks!
Thank you to Sophie and Grace who brought in extra hankies to share with everyone, very thoughtful.
Here we are getting ready, no photos of us dancing as we were moving much to fast.

Hans Christian Andersen Writing Table Roleplay
After moving classrooms we no longer had a role play area and I asked the children to come up with suggestions for a new one. The children were asked to choose whatever they wanted, it didn't need to be connected to our topic. However the wonderful Great Bear Class came up with a very imaginative idea, a Hans Christian Andersen writing table. This is Great Bear Class busy writing their masterpieces!
Instructional Writing
This term in Literacy we have been focusing on non-fiction. We have been thinking about instructions this week, what are they for? Are there different types? What are the main features?
We tried out different instructions and discussed which ones we felt were the easiest to follow and why. Here we are making origami dog, paper plate fish and following map directions. Our very fun and enjoyable learning was planned and taught by Miss King.

World Book Day 2016
Great Bear Class had a super World Book Day with lots of people in costume. We talked about our favourite books after reading "Charlie Cook's Favourite Book". We also planned our our Mad Hatter's Tea Party after Miss King (AKA The White Rabbit) read us part of "Alice In Wonderland".
Here we are looking amazing, apologies for the sideways photos, my laptop is refusing to let me turn them!

Outdoor Science
Great Bear Class have loved using our new outdoor learning area! We have used it during Science to sort materials into groups. First the children searched for and collected objects, then the objects were sorted by the types of materials they are made out of. Next the children sorted them in to the properties the materials have, bendy, smooth, hard etc. It was a lovely afternoon and we hope to have many more of them.
