Superhero Science

We have been investigating the best material to make a superhero cloak. In learning partners we tested a material for flying and looking cool, strength and stretch, waterproof ability, heat resistance and frostproof ability.

We had great fun and Great Bear class had lots of fantastic ideas, relating their predictions to everyday life and previous experiences which is a very important Science skill.

"I think the fur with not be waterproof, it will soak it up because it has holes." "But I think it will be, because it is like dog fur and dogs have waterproof fur."

We are still left to see what has happened to our pieces in the freezer but we are predicting net as the winner based on our results so far!

Here is Great Bear class having a super time whilst doing some super learning!

A Midwife Crisis

Well, what an amazing show! I am so very proud of everyone and the part they played in making our production totally fabulous. I think it is the best Infant Nativity I have ever seen. Here are Great Bear in their brilliant costumes, thank you so much to everyone who helped to make them look the part!

Sorting in Numeracy

This week we have been looking at sorting, we sorted each other acording to hair and eye colour both suggestions from Great Bear class themselves. We then looked at a collection of houses with Learning Partners and discussed how to sort them. Great Bear class had lots of ideas and were very successful in their sorting. This activity is good for logical thinking, discussion and links to Science too.

Super Hero Counting

We start most of our Numeracy sessions with some counting movement songs. One is a superhero song, we count to 100 in 1s, when it reaches a multiple of 10 we strike a superhero pose.

Here is the link so you can sing along at home!

A few budding Police Officers? Definately!

On Monday 7th December, Mr Biss came to visit Great Bear class. He talked to us about being a Police officer, what his role is and how he helps people. Great Bear class had lots and lots of questions about his job role and the equipment he brought in to show us.

We all had great fun and could have asked Mr Biss questions all day! Thank you so much for your time Mr Biss, we hope you enjoyed your visit as much as we did!

Here are Great Bear looking the business as future Police officers!
