A Visit From The Oral Heath Team

Way back in our first term we were looking at keeping healthy in Science and I tried to arrange a visit from the Oral Heath team however we couldn't find a suitable time until now. But it was worth the wait as we had a great time and even got presents, toothbrush and toothpaste.

We saw a puppet show that helped us to understand why brushing your teeth and choosing the right snacks are important. We then went shopping and thought about healthy foods for our teeth and our bodies.

We also talked about how to brush our teeth properly and what happened when your teeth fall out.

It was a great afternoon!

Numeracy- Number Bonds and Measuring

This week in Numeracy we have been using our Numeracy skills in lots of practical ways. We have been playing lots of Number bonds to 10 and 20 games and measuring weight using balance scales.

We have been weighing items from Jack and the beanstalk using grams and balance scales and measuring ingredients to make green play-dough for our beanstalk area.

The Magic Shop Opens

Great Bear class discussed what role play area they would like to fit in with our topic and a Magic Shop was chosen. Lots of fabulous imaginative play has been happening and it only opened on Friday. This included Mrs Dummett falling asleep after eating a magic apple!

Back to Normal

Our first week back in 2016 has been very much about routines and getting into our normal school life routines. Christmas in a Primary School is wonderful but it is very busy and very different from any other time of the year. Lots of exciting things happen and lots of changes take place so now it is a time to remind ourselves of life in Great Bear Class without Christmas, back to normal!

Learning Partners are a very big part of learning in Rowde Academy and we change Learning Partners every week without fail. This also means children change seating places too. Learning Partners are always an invaluable to our learning but this week we they helped everyone to settle back into school life, with lots of support, helping, sharing and friendship.

Here we are saying thank you to our Learning Partners with a special message. These photos are stuck in the back of the children's books as a record.

Sadly Lois is on her own as her Learning Partner was away.

A Message for Freddie!

Freddie has not been with Great Bear Class on our first week of 2016 as he has been recovering from being very poorly.

We have missed Freddie in Great Bear Class and we are looking forward to seeing him soon.
